Senior Software Engineer

ParamountSan Francisco, CA
$124,000 - $186,000Onsite

About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, CMS to design and deliver scalable services at Paramount Streaming. You will become an expert in core components of our content management platform, lead small-to-medium projects, and mentor other engineers — shipping high-quality code across a polyglot stack powering Paramount+, Pluto TV, and CBS.com. Motivational Fit • You want to go deep — mastering a system and becoming the person others turn to. • You’re driven to improve code quality, developer experience, and team processes. • You take ownership from design through production and enjoy mentoring others.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent applicable experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with Java (17+) / Spring Boot and TypeScript / React / Next.js.
  • Experience with Python, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with content management domains or media/streaming platforms.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with technical writing and design documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features, APIs, and services across our stack: Java/Spring Boot, Next.js/React, Python, Kafka/PubSub, and Solr search pipelines.
  • Become an expert in one or more CMS platform components or systems — and codify that expertise so AI agents can ramp on it (clear conventions, agent-readable docs).
  • Lead small-to-medium projects from inception to delivery, including scoping and coordination.
  • Identify and address complex technical issues — debugging, performance tuning, root-cause analysis.
  • Proactively improve development tooling, system efficiency, and reduce technical debt.
  • Mentor less senior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing — including effective AI-augmented workflows.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to ensure seamless integrations and cohesive experiences.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, incident resolution, and RCAs.
  • Help grow the team through interviewing and onboarding new members.
