Senior Software Engineer - Platform Infrastructure

Qualtrics•Seattle, WA
•$147,000 - $178,500•Hybrid

About The Position

The Platform Infrastructure team builds and operates foundational software used by engineering teams to run their services. This role focuses on making platform workloads more cost-effective by developing tooling and frameworks that help teams monitor and optimize CPU and memory usage. The team runs EKS and supports engineering teams across Qualtrics, with PGF currently an exception until it is rolled in. The role also involves building services in Go and working on Kubernetes orchestration as platform needs evolve, including service discovery and orchestration. The engineer will create, deploy, and operate services that help the platform meet availability, scalability, and performance goals. The role helps define how Qualtrics engineers operate containerized workloads and establishes service-discovery architecture and best practices across engineering. The team works closely with AWS and other internal platform, infrastructure, and developer experience teams, supporting services at a global scale across thousands of hosts. Periodic on-call responsibilities are part of the role. The position follows Qualtrics’ hybrid work model: employees work in the office three days per week—Mondays and Thursdays, plus one day selected by their organizational leader—and may work where they choose for the rest of the week.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience developing and operating large-scale software systems.
  • Experience with professional software engineering practices, such as unit testing, code reviews, and design documents.
  • Experience with high-level languages such as Go and scripting languages such as Bash.
  • Experience building software or systems that serve multiple teams or an entire company.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, ideally EKS, including workload and resource management, nodepool management, and policy enforcement.
  • Ability to debug applications in a Linux environment.
  • Systems engineering experience must be paired with production software development experience; a background focused entirely on Linux or system administration is not the target profile.
