This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Warren, MI, three times per week. The Senior Software Engineer will design and develop backend services, APIs, integrations, and event-driven solutions that support digital commerce and order-management workflows. They will build reliable and maintainable software using appropriate design patterns, testing practices, security controls, and coding standards. The role involves integrating services with platforms such as Shopify, IBM Order Management System, subscription and billing systems, fulfillment services, and other internal or external partners. Responsibilities include participating in technical design reviews, troubleshooting application and integration issues, taking ownership of DevOps practices, and building production operational capabilities. The engineer will deploy, configure, and troubleshoot containerized workloads using Azure and Kubernetes, and participate in on-call support activities. Collaboration with DevOps and SRE partners on cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, monitoring, security, scalability, and operational improvements is expected. Strong AI skills and AI-assisted development practices are to be applied to improve productivity, code quality, test coverage, documentation, automation, and troubleshooting. The role also involves providing technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers, participating in hiring activities, and communicating technical status to stakeholders. Contribution to engineering standards, reusable components, documentation, and continuous improvement within the Digital eCommerce organization is also part of the role.
