Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
This position involves designing and developing Java distributed application software, utilizing scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of designs. The role includes implementing proof of concepts for testing and certifying open source and public telemetry solutions to identify their fit for existing solutions. Responsibilities also cover accurate documentation and maintenance of software functionality, modifying existing software and services to correct errors, adapt to new demands, or improve performance. The engineer will develop scalable, secure, robust, maintainable, and reusable code and software tools for managing configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, availability, and alerting for test, integration, and production environments. Additionally, the role involves building enterprise-level workflows using different programming languages, technology stacks, and deployment platforms to onboard application teams to use telemetry solutions. The engineer will drive application development efforts by following agile development processes and assist management in systems/software resource planning, task definition, task management, and code reviews. The position also includes automating and operating large-scale distributed application deployments and helping identify and resolve technical issues. A key aspect is developing RESTful web services to integrate between server-side and client-side applications.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing REST API web services using Java, spring and spring boot.
- Experience with Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience configuring and deploying application using Apache Tomcat.
- Experience in opensource timeseries solutions including Prometheus, M3DB, Kairosdb, and Graphite.
- Experience implementing enterprise quality services mesh, using Kubernetes, Istio, Docker, along with monitoring tools including Prometheus and Grafana dashboards.
- Experience with CI/CD using Jenkins, Maven, and GIT.
- Experience working in various SDLC methodologies Agile, Scrum and Waterfall.
- Experience using ServiceNow, JIRA to record and monitor the stories and backlogs.
- Experience creating Helm charts to manage Kubernetes applications.
