About The Position

The LatticeOS Team builds the software-defined operating system used by autonomous systems, sensors, and third-party integrations. Its work spans edge devices, robotic platforms, and cloud infrastructure, providing a unified environment for system orchestration, secure data distribution, and real-time execution. LatticeOS supports mission-critical operations and integrations through the Lattice SDK, with an emphasis on reliable middleware, high availability, and hardware-software integration in demanding operational environments.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the ProtoKV domain, you will design and build distributed key-value infrastructure for sharing state across LatticeOS, with a focus on performance, reliability, and consistency at the edge. You will own protobuf schema evolution and the API surface so services across the mesh can publish and consume typed state without breaking contracts. The role also involves optimizing for low-bandwidth links, intermittent connectivity, and strict latency requirements in tactical environments. You will collaborate with teams across Lattice to understand usage patterns, debug cross-service state issues, and evolve ProtoKV replication and conflict-resolution mechanisms as the platform scales.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 6 years of professional software development experience, focused on distributed systems or data/databases.
• Deep experience with Python, Go, C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages.
• Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including the ability to reason about replication, consistency, partition behavior, failure modes, and convergence.
• Production experience building or operating storage engines, databases, or large-scale data infrastructure.
• Comfort working in a systems programming language.
• A bias toward shipping and owning work.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams across Lattice to understand consumption patterns and debug cross-service state issues.
• Evolve ProtoKV replication and conflict-resolution mechanisms as the platform scales.
