Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience (DevX)
About The Position
The Senior Software Engineer on Robinhood’s Developer Experience (DevX) team builds and scales the developer infrastructure used by engineers across the company. The team owns core systems that support thousands of engineers, aiming to make software development fast, reliable, and cost-efficient. The role focuses on managing and optimizing monorepo builds with Bazel, owning the remote build execution cluster, and scaling CI pipelines for speed, safety, and reliability. It also improves developer onboarding and provides remote development environments so engineers can code, test, and deploy with minimal friction. The position is based in Robinhood’s New York City office, with in-person attendance expected at least three days per week.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining developer infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, or large-scale build systems such as Bazel.
- Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable code in Go or Python.
- Experience with distributed or remote build execution systems.
- Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on improving developer productivity, onboarding, and engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize monorepo builds using Bazel and own the remote build execution cluster to provide fast, stable builds and short feedback loops.
- Scale CI pipelines to support thousands of daily builds, focusing on speed, safety, and reliability.
- Manage GitHub repository configurations, pre-merge checks, and test executions.
- Improve developer onboarding and reduce time-to-first-commit for new engineers.
- Provide and maintain remote development environments to accelerate workflows and support coding, testing, and deployment with minimal friction.
