About The Position

The defense and intelligence pillar is looking for a full-stack software engineer to build robust systems and integrate with our key federal partners. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to develop our next-generation global monitoring application that powers Planet’s future growth. Your work will be highly visible, directly enhancing how users gain rapid access to unprecedented geospatial datasets. You will champion scalable architecture across backend services, frontend applications, and data solutions. Ideal candidates are innovative problem solvers eager to push the boundaries of satellite data accessibility. This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years industry experience
  • Fluency in Golang, Python, & Postgresql or related technologies
  • Full stack application development experience (Database, Services, Web)
  • Experience building frontend applications in React
  • Experience with maintaining infrastructure-in-code
  • Experience with logging, alerting, and monitoring tools to support system quality

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adjust on the fly to customer needs
  • Experience with infrastructure such as AWS and GCP and infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience building systems with many integrations
  • Experience with geospatial technologies and data

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept to implementation
  • Ownership of the quality and availability of mission systems
  • Contribute to the improvement of our architecture, infrastructure, and processes
  • Spearhead the design and development of scalable backend services and frontend applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate complex customer requirements into seamless features
