About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the design, architecture, and delivery of complex product features for a cloud-based platform modernizing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). The platform replaces legacy EDI infrastructure with modern APIs and a pre-connected trading-partner network, using AI in EDI workflows to automate rule writing, reduce errors, and simplify integrations. The product supports more than 400 companies, over 500 million transactions, and 10,000 trading partnerships.

This is a senior product-engineering role for someone who combines strong engineering fundamentals with product judgment, architectural ownership, and the ability to rigorously direct and review AI-generated code. The engineer will connect technical decisions to customer needs and business impact, balance delivery with long-term platform quality, and help guide engineering standards and technical direction.

The engineering team is fully remote across the United States and Canada. Its culture is customer-outcome-driven, data-oriented, and AI-forward. Engineers are expected to make evidence-based decisions, use AI coding agents effectively while validating their output, communicate trade-offs, mentor colleagues, and take responsibility for production quality and customer outcomes.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with a strong product engineering background.
• Experience designing, building, and delivering complex production software systems.
• Demonstrated ownership of major product features or technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and implementation of major initiatives and product features; author designs for large projects, applications, and complex systems.
• Make architectural decisions that account for performance, scale, reliability, and maintainability, and communicate business impacts and trade-offs.
• Evaluate existing architectures, identify opportunities for improvement, and help establish engineering standards and technical direction.
• Own the design, implementation, and delivery of complex product features in partnership with product and cross-functional teams.
• Translate customer problems and product requirements into reliable, scalable technical solutions, and use data and product metrics to evaluate outcomes.
• Balance feature delivery with long-term platform health, technical quality, and customer and business needs.
• Diagnose and resolve challenging issues across distributed systems and application architecture; identify and mitigate technical risks.
• Improve system behavior through instrumentation, monitoring, and data-driven investigation.
• Direct AI coding agents by breaking work into clear specifications, and rigorously verify generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Develop effective AI-assisted engineering workflows and exercise judgment about when to trust, correct, constrain, or reject AI-generated output.
• Maintain a high engineering quality bar through reliable, maintainable, well-tested, production-ready code, critical design and implementation reviews, and improved documentation and shared context.
• Mentor engineers, provide architectural guidance, and share knowledge about system design, engineering fundamentals, and AI-assisted development.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional partners, communicate technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, share work in progress, and take responsibility for outcomes beyond individual code contributions.
