About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, modernizes, and supports business-critical applications for Colonial Pipeline. The role combines hands-on software engineering with ownership of production systems, including application development, modernization, operational support, and continuous improvement. The engineer works with business stakeholders, product owners, QA, and other engineers to deliver solutions, and mentors junior engineers while promoting engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with enterprise applications.
• 4+ years of C#/.NET development experience.
• 4+ years of experience with web APIs, relational databases, system integration, and production application support.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and providing operational or on-call support.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve software delivery, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and productivity.

Nice To Haves

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science or a related field is preferred; a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience with legacy application modernization.
• Experience with Azure DevOps/GitHub and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with SQL Server and Oracle.
• Experience with mission-critical applications or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of pipeline business processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using C# and .NET.
• Develop web APIs, backend services, and system integrations.
• Modernize legacy applications using current technologies and development practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call support, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Perform code reviews and support CI/CD and modern SDLC practices.
• Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, QA, and engineers to deliver effective solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
