Senior Software Engineer, Remitly Business

RemitlySeattle, WA
$180,000 - $270,000Hybrid

About The Position

As a fullstack Senior Software Engineer (SDE III) on the Remitly Business team, you will help build a new product line from the ground up, bringing Remitly's trusted cross-border payments to small businesses for the first time. This is zero-to-one work: you will partner directly with Product Managers to turn ambiguous, unexplored problems into shipped features, working as a fullstack generalist across frontend experiences and backend services because early-stage products need engineers who can go wherever the problem leads. You will make foundational technical decisions that the product will live with for years, serve as a key technical voice in what we build and why, and help set the technical bar for a growing team. You will work in a hybrid capacity from our Seattle office.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in a collaborative team environment, including experience working as a fullstack generalist across frontend experiences and backend services
  • Expertise in one or more software languages used in a specific technical area (e.g., security, distributed systems, big data) and a willingness to adapt to new languages and frameworks as needed.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, and performant software utilizing cloud-based infrastructure solutions, and providing constructive feedback on team technical designs.
  • Experience leading projects at the team level, including breaking features into components that can be developed in parallel and providing delivery estimates.
  • Experience coaching other developers through mentoring, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ability to articulate best practices for error handling, observability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and write code that is well-tested, resilient, extensible, simple, and scalable — setting the bar for the team.
  • Divide features into components and tasks to be worked in parallel with others for timely delivery. Advise on team-level strategic planning and system design reviews.
  • Uphold and exemplify Foundational Excellence standards — including security, reliability, and quality — and proactively identify and resolve issues caused by technical debt.
  • Partner with other engineering teams, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver on shared outcomes, while helping peers make sound trade-offs.
  • Clearly articulate complex technical problems, proposals, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Flexible paid time off
  • Health, dental, and vision
  • 401k plan with company matching
  • Paid parental, medical, military and family care leave
  • Mental Health & Family Forming Benefits
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
