Senior Software Engineer - Developer Experience, Android
About The Position
The Senior Software Engineer on DoorDash’s Developer Experience team builds foundational components for DoorDash mobile applications, including runtime libraries, build systems, and development tools. The role focuses on improving the productivity and overall development experience of mobile engineers, helping product teams build, test, and release features more quickly and reliably. The engineer partners with engineers, technical product managers, engineering managers, and leaders across the organization on large, high-impact initiatives, and contributes to the mobile engineering community through mentorship, education, and engagement. The position reports to the Engineering Manager of the Mobile Foundations team within the Developer Platform organization. The employee must be located in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, or Los Angeles, California; Seattle, Washington; or New York, New York.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of Android development experience.
- A product mindset and the ability to apply it when building platform services.
- Competence working with people, systems, and software.
- Curiosity and willingness to investigate different system architectures.
- Strong organization and written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be located in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, or Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; or New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Build foundational runtime libraries, build systems, and development tools for DoorDash mobile applications.
- Architect and implement platform components that improve mobile engineers’ productivity and development experience.
- Solve complex mobile engineering challenges with solutions used across product teams.
- Enable product teams to build, test, and release features more quickly and reliably.
- Mentor and guide mobile engineers, share expertise, promote best practices, and foster technical excellence and collaboration.
- Partner with engineers, technical product managers, engineering managers, and leaders across the organization to deliver major initiatives.
