ASML is seeking a software engineer to design and develop software for distributed control systems and explore integrating AI into existing systems and processes. The role is part of an Agile, multidisciplinary team developing software for ASML’s EUV technology. The engineer will collaborate with software and control system engineers, architects, functional engineers, and stakeholders to develop solutions from system requirements and design documents through testing and release. Design priorities include reusability, modularity, simplicity, and maintainability. The control system involves real-time data exchange, diagnostic data collection, quad-core boards, platform software running on IBM BladeCenter, PostgreSQL databases, data transfer over a fab network, a Qt graphical user interface, a Siemens PLC for safety, user-facing diagnostic and maintenance applications, and drivers for physical machine components. The position involves hard- and soft-real-time software, complex hardware interfaces, and communication protocols and platforms including Xilinx SoC, PLC, TCP/IP, and EtherCAT. Development uses C++ and Python on Linux; experience with VxWorks is also relevant. The position is on-site in San Diego, California. A flexible workplace arrangement may be available for roles conducive to remote work, up to two days per week. The current base annual salary range is $134,000–$197,000.
