About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing software gaps, updates, and modifications between customer and business expectations and the existing software product and solutions. You will classify requirements, anticipate solution risks, and contribute to the creation of user stories. You will assist in designing software solutions where processes and applications work in tandem, evaluating trade-offs based on business requirements. You will convert High-Level Designs into detailed designs, create minimalistic software code, and ensure components meet business and technical requirements, including non-functional requirements for low-maintenance, high-availability, and high-scalability needs. You will also assist in selecting appropriate languages, standards, and tools, and take the initiative to learn new coding languages and frameworks. Building automation scripts for CI/CD, testing, and other processes, implementing telemetry features, and ensuring security policy requirements are applied are key aspects of this role. You will map customer requirements to test objectives, create and execute test cases, track and analyze defects, and perform regression testing. Analyzing past defects to prevent recurrence, troubleshooting performance and availability bottlenecks, conducting complex maintenance procedures, and monitoring application performance are also expected. You will perform various maintenance activities (corrective, adaptive, perfective) and re-engineering, analyze application logs and performance data, and evaluate change requests for validity and feasibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 3 years of experience in software engineering or related area; OR Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year of experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Experience implementing production grade real-time datastore using BigQuery RDBMS and Looker.
  • Experience with object-oriented design utilizing Java and Scala.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST API web services using Java SpringBoot.
  • Experience developing Big Data ETL Pipelines in Scala Spark, PySpark, and Hive.
  • Experience designing, building, and testing pipelines using Hive.
  • Experience developing, deploying and maintaining data pipelines on distributed cloud computer backend.
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
  • Experience implementing and managing logging and monitoring solutions using Splunk, Grafana, DataDog and Spotlight.
  • Experience utilizing version control systems including GitHub and BitBucket to track, monitor and maintain codebases.
  • Experience designing and developing data ingestion platforms for SOX, GDPR and CCPA.
  • Experience designing and implementing custom sensors and operators in Airflow.
  • Experience building and managing container-based workflow orchestration using Genie for scheduling big data jobs on cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience implementing Airflow on Kubernetes to containerize (Docker).
  • Experience building analytical Tableau and PowerBI dashboards with Hive and Presto backend.
  • Experience implementing platform delta-lake architecture using change data capture.
  • Experience performing data preprocessing and feature engineering.
  • Experience implementing machine learning models for predictive modeling and statistical analysis.
  • Experience using Python and ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow and Keras).

Responsibilities

  • Assess software gaps, updates, and modifications between customer and business expectations and the existing software product and solutions.
  • Classify requirements into applicable types.
  • Anticipate solution risks and issues during requirements gathering phase, inform relevant stakeholders and recommend corrective steps.
  • Contribute to the creation of user stories for software components, applications, or complex modules.
  • Assist in design of software solutions such that the processes and software applications work in tandem for specific software components and modules of a product.
  • Evaluate trade-offs while designing a component based on the business requirements.
  • Assist in conversion of HLD (High Level Design) to create detailed designs using mock screens, pseudo codes, and detailed functional logic of the modules for specific modules and components of a product.
  • Create and configure minimalistic software code for entire the software component or software application and ensure the components are meeting business and technical requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintenance, high-availability, and high-scalability needs.
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate languages and software development standards and tools for software coding and configuration.
  • Take initiative to learn the fundamentals of different coding languages and frameworks that would be useful for future scope of work.
  • Build scripts for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery), testing, or any other process.
  • Implement telemetry features as required independently.
  • Ensure security policy requirements are properly applied to software components and applications during code development and configuration.
  • Map the customer requirements into test objectives.
  • Identify and create test cases for the component or module.
  • Execute test cases to test the code and detect errors and defects for the entire component.
  • Execute different types of testing using appropriate testing tools based on the testing needs.
  • Track and analyze defects for the component or module and carry out regression testing to fix defects in all instances of code changes.
  • Analyze defects from past software engineering solutions to avoid recurrence of similar defects.
  • Troubleshoot performance and availability bottlenecks for the application.
  • Conduct complex maintenance procedures for applications independently.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the application by tracking and analyzing appropriate metrics.
  • Perform maintenance (corrective, adaptive, perfective) and re-engineering activities.
  • Analyze application logs, maintenance activity data, and performance data and provide analysis.
  • Evaluate change requests to identify those which are valid and feasible.
