About The Position

We are building an AI-native operating system for mortgage servicing, modernizing one of the most complex and highly regulated areas of the U.S. financial system. The platform unifies workflows, data, and money movement into a single system of record designed to scale with the complexity of mortgage servicing. The product supports billions of dollars in mortgage transactions and is built to operate reliably across complex federal, state, and agency regulations. The company is a rapidly growing technology organization operating at the intersection of AI, fintech, real estate, and regulated financial infrastructure. The engineering organization is focused on building modern software systems that replace legacy infrastructure while maintaining a high bar for reliability, security, and trust. The engineering team values high ownership, strong technical judgment, and the ability to move quickly without compromising production quality. Engineers are expected to own features end-to-end and work closely with product, platform, and infrastructure teams. AI is deeply integrated into the engineering workflow, with engineers using AI-assisted development tools to write and ship production code while maintaining human review and strong engineering standards.

Requirements

3–10 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong backend software engineering experience.
Experience owning features end-to-end in production environments.
Experience building and scaling production systems.
Strong experience working in startup or high-growth technology environments preferred.
Experience working on systems where reliability, correctness, and scalability are critical.
Experience working with complex business logic or regulated workflows is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to operate with high autonomy.
Experience collaborating closely with product and infrastructure/platform teams.
Experience shipping production software used by meaningful numbers of users or handling significant transaction volume.
Strong backend engineering fundamentals.
Strong proficiency in Python or a comparable backend programming language.
Experience building APIs, services, and distributed systems.
Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment environments.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes preferred.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform or comparable cloud environments preferred.
Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, and scalable data systems.
Experience designing systems for reliability, scalability, and performance.
Strong software architecture and system design fundamentals.
Experience with testing, code quality, CI/CD, and production engineering practices.
Ability to understand and work within complex technical and business constraints.
Experience using AI-assisted coding tools or AI development workflows strongly preferred.
Experience working with infrastructure or platform teams.
Understanding of containerization and orchestration.
Experience with Kubernetes preferred.
Experience with Docker.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

Own software features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through deployment and production ownership.
Build and scale backend systems supporting billions of dollars in mortgage transactions.
Design reliable software for complex, highly regulated financial workflows.
Develop production-quality backend services and APIs using modern engineering practices.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software development while maintaining human review and production quality.
Work across product, platform, and infrastructure teams depending on team matching and business priorities.
Design systems that can operate reliably across complex federal, state, and agency regulations.
Build highly scalable distributed systems and services.
Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.
Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
Identify technical problems and independently drive solutions from discovery through production.
Improve system reliability, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Participate in code reviews and help maintain a high engineering bar.
Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to incident resolution.
Work effectively in a fast-moving startup environment with significant autonomy.
Help establish engineering practices that enable the company to move quickly without breaking trust.

$210,000 – $300,000 base salary depending on level.
