Telnyx is seeking a senior engineer to work across software, operations, and applied AI. The role owns the phone-number inventory and ordering pipeline, building Python services that turn search-and-order API requests into provisioned, billable phone numbers. The pipeline handles asynchronous jobs, queues, retries, partial-failure rollbacks, SLA clocks, and fulfillment of advanced orders, processing tens of thousands of orders each week. The engineer will integrate with a wide range of US and international carriers and regulated-market vendors, each with distinct APIs, failure modes, and regulatory constraints. They will expand a production LLM-based order-review service that evaluates orders and regulatory documents, applying country-, number-type-, and carrier-specific approval rules with allowlists, score thresholds, audit logs, evaluation tools, guardrails, regression suites, and human escalation when needed. The role also covers end-to-end automation of country-specific identity and documentation requirements, external document-verification integrations, and expiry and re-verification workflows across more than 45 countries where Telnyx holds carrier licences. The engineer will maintain a Postgres-based warehouse and analytics supporting operational dashboards for stock, SLAs, and order lifecycles across a microservice estate, as well as alerts for stock risk, vendor SLA breaches, and pipeline health. The technology includes Python 3, asyncio, FastAPI/aiohttp, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, pydantic, pytest, mypy/ruff, LLM model APIs and orchestration tools, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ/Kafka, Consul, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker/OCI, GitHub Actions, and Metabase. TypeScript/Next.js may be used for internal dashboards but is not required. This is an applied AI and systems-automation role, not a pure CRUD or ML research position.
