Senior Lead Software Engineer - Python / NoSQL
About The Position
As a Senior Lead Software Engineer on JPMorganChase’s Corporate Technology - Risk Technology team, you will help an agile team enhance, build, and deliver secure, stable, scalable, and trusted technology products. You will use deep technical expertise and problem-solving skills to address challenges across technologies and applications and drive significant business impact. The role includes providing technical direction, developing and reviewing production code, shaping product and application decisions, and serving as a subject matter expert. You will also guide the adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, establish standards for validating AI outputs, and promote proven patterns and automation across the software development lifecycle toolchain.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, Pandas, NoSQL databases, Databricks, and cloud technologies.
- Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, including for coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting.
- Ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
- Ability to independently address design and functionality problems with little to no oversight.
- Deep technical expertise and strong leadership, architecture, and design experience.
- Practical cloud-native experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug code written by others.
- Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- Establish measurable validation standards for secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
- Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
- Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, technical operations, and processes.
- Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
- Contribute to the engineering community by advocating firmwide frameworks, tools, and Software Development Life Cycle practices.
- Coach senior engineers and leads on compliant AI usage patterns and controls.
