About The Position

Pivotal Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its new Systems Integration team. This is a backend-focused role responsible for building the infrastructure that manages money movement within the platform. The engineer will work on greenfield projects with significant ownership, contributing to a fast-paced team that values technical depth and independent judgment. The role offers meaningful ownership, a strong team environment, and a substantial technical challenge.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
  • Experience building and maintaining integrations with third-party APIs, financial systems, or enterprise software.
  • Solid understanding of backend fundamentals: system design, data modeling, API development, and service reliability.
  • Comfortable working in greenfield environments with evolving requirements and limited hand-holding.
  • Self-directed and proactive: identify problems and drive solutions without close management.
  • Strong communicator: surface blockers early, ask good questions, and keep the team aligned.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with transactional systems and distributed architecture.
  • Experience in early-stage or startup environments where organizational structure is still being built.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce or ERP integrations (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Background in FinTech, payments, billing systems, or financial data.
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts and how financial systems are structured.
  • Experience contributing to architectural discussions and technical design on a small, fast-moving team.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and own backend integrations with third-party systems (e.g., ERP accounting software, Salesforce) crucial for money movement and client billing.
  • Build and maintain production-quality code with end-to-end ownership of shipped features.
  • Implement the financial calculations and business rules governing fund flow, from client payments to provider reimbursements and refunds.
  • Actively participate in architectural discussions, providing implementation perspectives and advocating for better solutions.
  • Operate with autonomy on a small team, self-directing, identifying problems, and driving solutions without detailed direction.
  • Transition to broader internal platform work, including analytics, observability, and new product initiatives, as the team and company scale.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, including equity
  • Full health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement savings plan through 401(k)
  • Flexible time off
  • Opportunities for company-wide connection and events
