About The Position

Etsy is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II for Conversational Search, part of the Search Experience team in Buyer Experience. The engineer will work with web and full-stack engineers and collaborate with Product, Design, Research, Content Design, Analytics, Search ML, and retrieval teams. The team explores natural-language assisted search through iterative prototyping, research, A/B experiments, and analysis of buyer behavior. The role builds and ships buyer-facing search experiences on Etsy desktop and mobile web using PHP, JavaScript, and TypeScript. It includes prototyping, optimizing, and productionizing product improvements, including LLM-powered and conversational features; leading moderately complex, loosely scoped projects from technical planning through launch; mentoring engineers; and improving code quality, performance, and accessibility. Depending on proximity, team members are expected to attend the office once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case, with occasional office travel expected.
