Senior Software Engineer II, Web Platform

BiofireBroomfield, CO
$180,000 - $210,000Hybrid

About The Position

As Senior Software Engineer II, Web Platform at Biofire, you will take ownership of the platform behind our customer-facing website — the system of record for everything from browsing and account access to checkout on a regulated product. You'll start by getting to know the stack inside and out: assessing its architecture, integration points, and technical debt, then turning that assessment into a pragmatic roadmap for how the platform needs to evolve to support Biofire's growing digital marketing efforts and rising traffic. From there, you'll build the platform capabilities that let Marketing move independently — self-service content publishing, analytics, and experimentation infrastructure — while also raising the bar on reliability: consolidating observability, setting clear SLOs for critical journeys like authentication and checkout, and strengthening release infrastructure so the team can ship frequently and with confidence. This is a full-stack, full-ownership role: you'll work across frontend, API, data, and infrastructure, and partner closely with Marketing, Design, and CX to keep the platform's evolution grounded in what the business actually needs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of production web platforms across multiple projects or problem domains;
  • Proven full-stack fluency across the modern web stack (Next.js, TypeScript, React, Prisma, GraphQL) including the operational layer — deployment, CI/CD, auth, CMS integration, and payment processing;
  • Strong system design instinct, including the ability to spot structural weaknesses in a production codebase and its deployment pipeline and address them without introducing new risk;
  • Track record of shipping quickly and delivering work that holds up over time without a tail of rework;
  • Comfort operating in a commerce- and regulatory-heavy domain where data correctness is non-negotiable, including orders, payments, and regulated inventory state;
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills: clear recommendations, honest and early communication, and reliable delivery with non-engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship changes across the full stack — frontend, API, data, and infrastructure — without needing a specialist at any layer;
  • Own Biofire's customer-facing web platform end to end: assess the current architecture, set a pragmatic technical roadmap that supports the company's "digital growth, and personally build the changes it calls for;
  • Build platform capabilities that enable self-service digital marketing, including CMS-driven content publishing, analytics pipelines, and experimentation infrastructure;
  • Improve platform reliability and observability, establishing dashboards, alerting, and SLOs for critical user journeys such as auth, checkout, and account access;
  • Strengthen release infrastructure so the team can deploy to production frequently and with confidence;
  • Plan and roll out architectural changes deliberately, weighing the potential impact of each change and documenting the rationale for major decisions;
  • Partner with Marketing, Design, and CX to surface technical constraints early, propose practical alternatives, and define clear ownership boundaries between engineering and stakeholder teams.
