About the position
As a Senior Software Engineer at Kin, you will be responsible for independently owning and operating a range of features on in-house developed web applications. You will work with a small team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions across the stack, participate in pair programming, and contribute to the engineering team's code culture and practice. With 5+ years of professional software engineering experience and expertise in modern Javascript/Typescript, HTML, and CSS/SCSS, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and lead small teams. This role offers the chance to work on complex engineering problems and make a significant impact in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Typescript, HTML, and SCSS.
- Help implement solutions across the stack, such as API design, application UX, performance, etc.
- Participate in pair programming with team members.
- Take on more advanced design or architectural tasks.
- Participate in daily stands and weekly retros.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members.
- Provide subject matter expertise and support.
- Contribute to and expand the engineering team's code culture and practice, including documentation, testing, architecture, and layout.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Work in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Continuously learn and develop skills.
- Be located in Central or Eastern time zones (CST & EST).

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Expert proficiency in modern Javascript/Typescript, HTML, and CSS/SCSS
- Experience with modern SPA framework (Angular 2+ preferred), including integration of API calls and state management (NgRx/Redux)
- Experience building and composing applications with Web Components
- Experience with developing and maintaining a CMS managed website
- Familiarity with BEM methodology, Object-Oriented CSS principles, and custom component library development
- Experience working with APIs (Ruby on Rails experience is a bonus)
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
- Comfortable in a startup environment – fast-paced, self-motivated, and determined to change the industry
- A fast learner, ready to bring previous knowledge to this position and continue developing along the way
- Location in Central or Eastern time zones (CST & EST) strongly preferred
