The Senior Software Engineer, Edge Platform will be responsible for building and owning components of Laminar’s next-generation edge computing platform, influencing how software, ML models, and LLM workloads operate on Linux-based edge devices and factory servers. This is a hands-on role involving architecture, prototyping, and production deployment, requiring the ability to transform open-ended challenges into reliable systems and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

4+ years of experience building production systems software, with meaningful work on Linux systems, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
Track record of owning the design, implementation, and success of significant components within a larger system.
Comfortable defining technical direction, taking ownership, and delivering in a fast-paced product iteration cycle.
Deep Linux experience, covering administration, networking, filesystems, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
Experience shipping software into environments you don’t control: into on-prem, edge, embedded, robotics, or similar.
Practical experience with bare-metal infrastructure, hypervisors, virtual machines, and containers.
Strong experience in languages such as Rust, Python, C/C++, or Go, with experience building automation and system tooling.
Familiarity with deploying ML models and LLMs on edge hardware, including inference runtimes and resource constraints.
Experience with deployment automation, monitoring, system recovery, and secure software updates.
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Own the sensing signal chain, including ADC acquisition and timing, filtering, integration and averaging strategy, and calibration.
Integrate new detectors and sensing elements, supporting board bring-up through production-ready drivers.
Address challenges in noisy environments such as vibration, EMI, and thermal drift to extract the true signal.
Develop firmware in Zephyr to interface new detectors with the existing modular sensor stack.
Build the firmware side of calibration, including on-device coefficient storage, third-party calibration procedures, and the final provisioning process for sensors.
Ship drivers, OTA, and health monitoring for sensors to transmit data to the Edge Gateway.
