About The Position

ClickHouse is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Cloud Partner Integrations team. This role involves bringing ClickHouse Cloud into customer-trusted environments, acting as a native service within major cloud data platforms, a first-class data source for BI and visualization tools, or connecting through marketplaces and identity federation. The goal is to make ClickHouse feel like a first-class citizen in every environment. As the founding backend engineer, you will set technical defaults, have end-to-end ownership, and work within the constraints of external platforms. You will collaborate closely with the engineering manager and a founding group, setting the technical direction for the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years building software, with a significant portion on data-heavy or integration-flavored systems.
  • Solid backend and systems instincts, with the ability to reason about deployment topology, multi-tenancy, and data movement.
  • Comfortable owning architectural tradeoffs.
  • Experience with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation across trust boundaries.
  • Experience building on external platforms with incomplete documentation and potential breaking changes.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, shipping before specifications are finished, and making sensible calls under uncertainty.
  • Ability to flag decisions that will be hard to undo.
  • Strong collaboration skills with other engineers, earning trust through clear thinking.
  • Primarily a backend engineer, but comfortable enough in JavaScript/TypeScript to contribute when needed.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) effectively and honestly, with transparency about their use.
  • Strong written communication skills for design docs, PRs, and RFCs.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with a major cloud data or analytics platform ecosystem.
  • Real depth in auth and identity federation, or experience shipping through a partner marketplace or certification process.
  • Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms, or understanding their isolation and deployment topology.
  • Working knowledge of ClickHouse, or another columnar/OLAP engine.

Responsibilities

  • Own an integration end to end: design, code, and production system.
  • Set the technical defaults for a growing team.
  • Own the architecture including auth and identity flows, multi-tenancy, data movement, performance, and production operations.
  • Run what you build, including being on-call for your work.
  • Own the infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability behind the integrations.
  • Work on top of external platforms that cannot be changed, managing associated risks.
  • Partner closely with internal teams whose services are depended upon, agreeing on interfaces and finding ways to keep moving forward.
  • Develop design documents, PRs, and RFCs to document technical direction and decisions.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment - ClickHouse is a globally distributed company and remote-friendly.
  • Healthcare - Employer contributions towards your healthcare.
  • Equity in the company - Every new team member receives stock options.
  • Time off - Flexible time off in the US, generous entitlement in other countries.
  • A $500 Home office setup if you’re a remote employee.
  • Global Gatherings – Opportunities to engage with colleagues at company-wide offsites.
