Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Product Engineering)
About The Position
Brex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join their Product Engineering team. This role involves developing new products from concept to launch, focusing on customer-facing features that drive business impact and shape the company's technical vision. The engineer will work on a hybrid model, spending three coordinated days per week in the San Francisco office (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) with the option for up to four weeks of fully remote work per year. Brex is an intelligent finance platform that combines global corporate cards and banking with spend management, bill pay, and travel software, aiming to automate manual expense and accounting tasks for businesses.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying applications with a focus on the backend.
- Experience building and designing scalable backend systems
- Experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases
- Experience working with backend programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python)
- Familiarity with software engineering development cycles
- Ability to hold yourself and the team to high standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers across the company to build new features and products end-to-end.
- Work alongside user-facing teams like Sales and Support to deeply understand our customers' needs.
- Design and implement solutions to improve our customers' banking experiences.
- Own problems end-to-end, from user experience and data models to scalability, operability, and ongoing metrics.
- Tune and polish features to a high degree of excellence.
