Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Product Engineering)
About The Position
Brex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join their Product Engineering team. This role involves developing new products from concept to launch, focusing on building customer-facing products that drive business impact and shape the company's technical vision. The engineer will contribute to improving financial software experiences, be data-driven, and think creatively to support Brex's growth and expansion into new markets. The position is based in the New York office within a hybrid environment, requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday), with the perk of up to four weeks of fully remote work per year.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying applications with a focus on backend.
- Experience building and designing scalable backend systems
- Experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases
- Experience working with backend programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python)
- Familiarity with software engineering development cycles
- Ability to hold yourself and the team to high standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers across the company to build new features and products end-to-end.
- Work alongside user-facing teams like Sales and Support to deeply understand our customers' needs.
- Design and implement solutions to improve our customers' banking experiences.
- Own problems end-to-end, from user experience and data models to scalability, operability, and ongoing metrics.
- Tune and polish features to a high degree of excellence.
