Senior Software Engineer, Backend - LATAM

This role is for a Senior Software Engineer focused on backend development, offering significant autonomy and technical challenges within an AI-driven team. The ideal candidate will possess strong system design instincts and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- AI fluency: comfortable using Claude, Cursor, or similar tools as the main coding interface.
- Strong system design skills: ability to discuss architectural decisions, explain tradeoffs, and think at the infrastructure level.
- Proven delivery: experience shipping complex systems, not just features, and ability to articulate the scope of past work.
- Self-directed working style: ability to identify necessary tasks and drive them without daily direction.
- Comfortable handling ambiguity: ability to ask the right questions and figure out solutions for less-than-neatly scoped requests.
- Adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Excellent communication skills: ability to explain technical problems clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- Java or Kotlin experience.
- SQL and relational databases.
- Terraform, Datadog, or Splunk experience.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design and implementation of greenfield services.
- Replace legacy code with modern microservices, ensuring strong test coverage and production-grade observability.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and other Engineering teams to translate requirements into engineering solutions.
- Utilize AI tools (Claude and/or Cursor) as the primary development environment.
- Drive projects independently, owning work, surfacing blockers, and maintaining momentum.
