About The Position

Design and develop scalable, high-performance software systems and database solutions capable of processing large data volumes, including high-traffic application events and user interactions. Develop and maintain a scalable data platform for the processing, storage, and access needs of engineers, analysts, and other internal stakeholders. Coordinate deployment, configuration, and performance monitoring of backend systems, and coordinate cross-functional communication during deployments and operational reviews. Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, backend services, and data workflows. Research and evaluate backend technologies, tools, and best practices, and collaborate with engineering teams to build and operate shared backend services across the company’s product portfolio. Telecommuting may be permitted; when not telecommuting, the employee must report to 8833 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069. The annual salary range is $189,051–$192,835.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or in a role involving analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining software systems or applications; alternatively, a Master’s degree or U.S. equivalent in one of these fields plus 3 years of such professional experience.
• 3 years of professional experience using backend programming languages, including Java.
• 3 years of professional experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale distributed data systems.
• 3 years of professional experience designing, developing, and modifying software systems using APIs.
• 2 years of professional experience deploying and managing backend services using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• 2 years of professional experience writing comprehensive unit and regression tests using frameworks including Mockito and Jest.
• 2 years of professional experience working with cross-functional teams, including security, IT, or finance, and contributing to security and compliance.
• 2 years of professional experience implementing high-performance and scalable backend systems supporting mobile applications.
• 2 years of professional experience performing data analysis and working with data platforms to extract actionable insights from large datasets.
• 2 years of professional experience using Docker and container orchestration technologies including Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
• 2 years of professional experience working with event-driven or message-oriented technologies including Apache Kafka or AWS SQS.
• 2 years of professional experience developing and supporting software related to compliance, authorization, or biometric systems.
• 2 years of professional experience using software deployment tools and monitoring systems including Jenkins, Prometheus, and Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance software systems and database solutions for large data volumes, including high-traffic application events and user interactions (10% of the time).
• Develop, implement, and oversee software testing procedures, system validation workflows, programming tasks, and related technical documentation (15% of the time).
• Architect, build, and maintain a scalable data platform supporting data processing, storage, and access needs for engineers, analysts, and other internal stakeholders (25% of the time).
• Coordinate deployment, configuration, and ongoing performance monitoring of backend systems to ensure they meet technical requirements and service-level objectives (10% of the time).
• Coordinate cross-functional communication during system deployments and operational reviews to ensure engineering requirements, quality standards, and timelines are met (10% of the time).
• Create, maintain, and update technical documentation for APIs, backend services, and data workflows for internal engineering teams and approved external consumers (15% of the time).
• Research and evaluate backend technologies, tools, and best practices, and support backend development in accordance with architectural standards and product roadmap needs (10% of the time).
• Collaborate with engineering teams across the organization to design, build, and operate shared backend services across the company’s product portfolio (5% of the time).
