Senior Software Development Manager
About The Position
The Senior Software Development Manager leads a global, highly skilled function that transforms complex healthcare challenges into instrument software solutions. The role leads a chapter of senior discipline leads and governs a large-scale global delivery network to deliver predictable customer value. Responsibilities span operational execution across backlog elaboration, product ownership, solution leadership, and vendor management for global instrument software programs. The manager establishes operational standards, capacity planning, and governance frameworks for 150+ global delivery resources across multiple release streams, and provides direct line management, mentorship, and career coaching to 10+ senior leads. The position scales modern Lean-Agile methodologies, enterprise tools, and emerging AI-driven automated agentic workflows within regulated software frameworks. It partners with Product Management and Life Cycle Teams to translate commercial intent into compliant technical backlogs and robust software architectures, while maintaining systemic quality accountability in accordance with healthcare software development standards such as ISO 13485 and IEC 62304.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of demonstrated technical leadership within large-scale, globally distributed software delivery teams in regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, automotive, or aerospace.
- 4+ years of experience in people leadership.
- Advanced expertise in Scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe/Lean-Agile), enterprise tooling (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps), and structuring complex software backlogs.
- Proven ability to coach and develop senior leads while strategically managing software vendor partnerships, statements of work, and blended delivery models.
- Familiarity with or curiosity about integrating AI-driven tools, automated agentic workflows, and modern development practices into software delivery.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build alignment and influence across cross-functional matrix teams.
