Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering
About The Position
Zscaler is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering to lead and scale the Zscaler Client Connector Portal service. Based in Santa Clara, California, this role reports to the Sr. Director, Software Engineering in the Zero Trust Exchange department. The manager will work closely with the executive team and lead a high-performing engineering team to deliver services, guide product architecture and design, and drive the service’s development and operations. The role calls for a leader who combines strategic direction with hands-on execution, builds trusted partnerships, prioritizes customer needs, and delivers high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. The team will embrace the AI Development Lifecycle and transition to a full service ownership model.
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes in a functional domain.
- 7+ years of experience building and leading software development teams that develop enterprise applications with the Java stack.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud-based deployment and cloud operations.
- 3+ years of experience working with hyperscalers such as AWS.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of the Java stack, SSL, and MySQL.
- Hands-on proficiency with Java, Python, and shell scripting.
Nice To Haves
- Proven ability to leverage AI technologies and workflows to drive measurable operational efficiency.
- Current experience utilizing the AI Development Lifecycle (AIDLC) in software delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and microservices architectures.
- US citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Lead the software development team while embracing the AI Development Lifecycle and collaborating with product and operations teams.
- Provide thought leadership and participate deeply in product architecture and design.
- Oversee cloud operations, including upgrades, scalability improvements, and troubleshooting.
- Transition the team to a full service ownership model.
- Partner with product management to define and execute the product roadmap.
