BLUE ORIGIN•Seattle, WA
•$197,529 - $276,540

About The Position

Blue Origin’s Enterprise Technology organization develops the digital infrastructure needed to support the company’s mission. Within Enterprise Technology, the Applications team administers Jira, Confluence, and other enterprise applications used across Blue Origin. The Senior Software Development Engineer will build automation and self-service tools to replace manual, ticket-driven operational work such as provisioning, configuration changes, access requests, and routine maintenance. The role focuses on designing and delivering software that enables users to help themselves, scaling the team’s services and reducing time spent waiting on manual fulfillment. AI-assisted development is a core tool for accelerating development, testing, and delivery. The engineer owns the full lifecycle of their software, from design through production operation; builds integrations across enterprise applications; and works with infrastructure engineers and internal customers to ensure solutions are reliable, secure, well-architected, and useful. The role also leads technical designs, mentors teammates, reviews work, and establishes reusable patterns for future automation.

  • Solid understanding of AWS or comparable cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design efforts and mentor other engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including working through ambiguous requirements and delivering practical solutions.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to company culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
