About The Position

The Senior Social Worker evaluates the needs of populations served by the department and identifies appropriate resources and solutions for adults, families, and older adults. Services and resources may include entitlement programs, fuel assistance, mental health and substance use services, CHOICES counseling, and crisis intervention. The position is responsible for maintaining and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of areas under its direction and control.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work or a related field and two years of experience as a social worker or direct social services provider; or a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related degree from an accredited college and more than five years of experience as a social worker or direct social services provider.
• Suitable experience may be substituted for educational attainment if deemed appropriate by the Director or designee.
• Must have and maintain a valid Connecticut driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the needs of populations served by the department.
• Identify and provide appropriate resources and solutions for adults, families, and older adults.
• Support access to resources such as entitlement programs, fuel assistance, mental health and substance use services, CHOICES counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Maintain and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of areas under the position’s direction and control.
