About The Position

This position reports to the Social Work Supervisor within the Medical Foster Care Program. The role involves providing intensive casework services and fieldwork for children and their birth and foster families with the goal of providing permanency as quickly as possible. The Senior Social Worker will conduct intensive outreach to connect children and families with agency and community treatment resources, utilize the CONNECTIONS child welfare computer system, and coordinate Family Team Conferences. Additionally, the role includes providing in-person weekly, reflective supervision to assigned staff and student interns, offering support, and critically analyzing strengths and areas for growth. The incumbent is expected to actively participate in case consultation and perform other duties as assigned. The position requires flexibility to work a schedule, whether in-person or hybrid, as determined by the department's needs to facilitate effective collaboration with the team, ensuring seamless communication, fostering teamwork, and maintaining smooth operations. The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or related field required.
  • 3+ years foster care experience required.
  • Excellent verbal, writing and organizational skills.
  • Strong clinical skills and very good interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Experience working with high need families involved with substance use and mental health disorders.
  • Ability to deescalate situations and provide mediation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youngsters with special needs.
  • Experience in working with a team.
  • Flexibility and Ability to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
