Sr. Simulation Software Engineer

Reliable Robotics Corporation•Mountain View, CA

About The Position

Reliable Robotics is building safety-enhancing technology for aviation, with the goal of making air transportation safer and transforming how goods and people move. The Senior Simulation Software Engineer will shape the simulation software stack, including framework performance, flight dynamics modeling, hardware emulation, and simulation-based test infrastructure. The role is part of the Simulation and Test Systems team, which builds infrastructure for developing, testing, and deploying autonomous aircraft software. The engineer will work with hardware-in-the-loop test environments, a high-fidelity physics simulation stack, and cloud-based Monte Carlo infrastructure. These systems provide feedback on system behavior across varied flight plans, environmental conditions, and system faults, supporting the flight-equivalent testing needed to certify aviation products. The position requires access to information subject to U.S. export controls. Employment is contingent on the applicant's ability to comply with applicable U.S. export control laws. Applicants must provide documentation establishing their U.S.-person or non-U.S.-person status and, when applicable, nationalities. The company may decline to seek an export license and may end the application process or decline an offer when authorization is required for access to controlled technology or source code. Reliable Robotics is an equal opportunity employer. Employment and promotion decisions are based on qualifications, merit, and business need. Reasonable accommodations are available during the application and selection process by contacting [email protected].

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in simulation systems within aviation, automotive, or comparable environments.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in object-oriented C++ and Python or other scripting languages.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to perform in compliance with U.S. export control laws; applicants must provide documentation establishing their U.S.-person or non-U.S.-person status and, where applicable, nationalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling aircraft dynamics.
  • Experience developing simulations for safety-critical or DO-178 software and hardware systems.
  • Experience architecting complex distributed and real-time software frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects to develop a robust, deterministic, and scalable software simulation framework that accelerates testing of safety-critical systems.
  • Work with flight software, guidance/navigation/control, and hardware test stakeholders to expand the simulation system.
  • Improve the simulation's core architecture, including its performance, reproducibility, and flexibility.
  • Evaluate and drive key project decisions.
  • Mentor team members and help develop their skills.
  • Contribute across the simulation software stack, including framework performance, flight dynamics modeling, hardware emulation, and simulation-based test infrastructure.
  • Support development, testing, and deployment of autonomous aircraft software using hardware-in-the-loop test environments, high-fidelity physics simulation, and cloud-based Monte Carlo infrastructure.
