They are a trusted partner to public sector, government entities, K-12 schools, higher education, utilities, and healthcare customers globally. Ameresco develops, constructs, and operates tailored smart energy efficiency solutions, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure upgrades. The company is seeking a Senior Service Account Executive to drive growth within its Controls & Building Automation Services business. This role involves developing service offerings, understanding customer needs, and evolving the organization into a future-oriented service provider. It requires maintaining and building long-term relationships with a problem-solving approach and strong communication skills, both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will possess strong account management and consultative selling skills, combined with a deep understanding of building automation systems and their interaction with mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in controls service sales, building automation systems, energy services, facility optimization, or a related technical sales environment.
  • Demonstrated experience listening carefully to customers while developing and managing customer accounts, service contracts, and recurring revenue opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct Digital Controls (DDC), HVAC controls, and facility systems.
  • Experience selling service agreements, controls upgrades, retrofits, energy optimization solutions, or similar technical service offerings.
  • Proven ability to identify customer needs, develop strategic solutions, and communicate value to decision-makers and facility stakeholders.
  • Strong consultative and solution-selling skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Experience developing proposals, scopes of work, estimates, and customer presentations.
  • Ability to build credibility with facility directors, building owners, maintenance managers, and operational leadership teams.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing, issued by resident state, required.
  • Travel required.

  • Experience working with or competing against leading controls providers such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Carrier, or similar organizations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with existing customers to drive service agreement renewals, pull through project work, and become irreplaceable through exceptional service value.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities for controls service, building automation upgrades, retrofits, system optimization initiatives, and related solutions.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact and trusted advisor for existing customer accounts, ensuring customers maximize the value of their building automation investments.
  • Assess customer operational challenges and develop tailored solutions that improve system performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.
  • Generate and manage a consistent sales pipeline to achieve or exceed annual revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Help design, test, and drive new services within the team, including the use of AI/ML, new software tools, and keeping the team current with the latest tool sets.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, estimating, and project management teams to develop solutions and deliver winning proposals.
  • Prepare, present, negotiate, and close service agreements, maintenance contracts, system upgrades, and retrofit opportunities.
  • Maintain ownership of customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle, serving as the face of Ameresco before, during, and after project execution.
  • Utilize digital tools, building data, and system analytics to identify opportunities for pull-through work and proactive customer solutions.
  • Develop multi-year customer agreements and strategic account plans to support long-term business growth.
  • Track market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies within the controls and building automation industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
