About The Position

Tucker Mechanical, Inc. is seeking an Account Executive to drive profitable growth with a primary emphasis on building automation and controls solutions. This role supports the broader HVAC, mechanical service, planned maintenance, retrofit, and energy-optimization capabilities of the Service Department. The Account Executive will develop new opportunities, expand existing accounts, and deliver consultative technical upgrades, new installations, retrofits, and energy-based solutions. This position serves as a trusted advisor to building owners, facility teams, engineers, and general contractors, while achieving sales, revenue, and gross-margin goals. This is a controls and energy-focused sales role that educates prospective clients on all available energy rebates. The Account Executive may also pursue and develop complementary mechanical, HVAC service, planned maintenance, repair, replacement, and project opportunities where they align with customer needs and Tucker Mechanical capabilities.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of relevant experience in BAS/BMS, HVAC controls, mechanical systems, technical sales, estimating, account management, or project development.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, DDC applications, service agreements, retrofit projects, planned maintenance, and energy-management solutions.
  • The ability to connect controls opportunities with broader mechanical and service needs is strongly valued.
  • Ability to read plans and specifications, assess field conditions, develop technical and financial proposals, present value, negotiate, and close business at acceptable margin levels.
  • Strong prospecting, presentation, relationship-building, organization, time-management, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Honesty, integrity, personal accountability, self-motivation, coachability, professionalism, and the ability to remain courteous and constructive amid adversity.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel locally for customer meetings, site visits, and industry events.

Nice To Haves

  • Controls-sales experience is preferred but not required where the candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude and relevant commercial HVAC experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, or a technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience with controls platforms, open-protocol systems, IT/networking.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a plan to identify, qualify, and close opportunities; prospect new accounts; and expand relationships within existing customer base and targeted vertical markets.
  • Use controls opportunities to open doors while remaining attentive to broader mechanical and service needs.
  • Review plans, specifications, and field conditions; define scopes; estimate BMS related projects; and prepare proposals covering pricing, labor, materials, subcontractors, vendors, as well as the financial value of the recommended solution.
  • Apply knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, energy management, and smart-building technologies to recommend practical, efficient solutions aligned with customer goals.
  • Coordinate internally when opportunities include mechanical equipment, planned maintenance, service, repair, replacement, or related project work.
  • Lead meetings, site walks, pre-bid meetings, presentations, RFP responses, negotiations, and follow-up activities from opportunity development through project close.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Develop service agreements, planned maintenance opportunities, controls agreements, system upgrades, repairs, retrofits, and account-based pull through work where applicable.
  • Coordinate complete turnover to operations, installation, and service teams.
  • Provide clear scope, pricing, assumptions, exclusions, schedule requirements, and customer expectations; assist with scope clarification, problem resolution, and customer communication throughout execution.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts and provide responsive, professional support before, during, and after the sale.
  • Build relationships based on trust, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Build industry relationships, participate in networking and trade events, and remain current on BAS/BMS technology, open protocols, energy efficiency, intelligent-building trends, and relevant HVAC and service-market developments.
  • Work cohesively with Tucker Mechanical sales, service field team and operations teams to identify opportunities, develop complete solutions, and support successful project delivery.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to professional growth, independently prioritize time and activities, meet or surpass annual goals, and perform other duties as directed by the Sales Manager or General Service Manager.
