About The Position

This position supports the development, monitoring, maintenance, improvement, and documentation of the Building Automation Systems (BAS). They will be responsible for developing, programming, and improving programming logic for better performance, operation, and efficiency, as well as providing technical support to other technicians. This position will be the subject matter expert and system owner for Building Automation Systems and user interfaces used in HDS Facilities (e.g., Innotech and JCI Metasys).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Three years of experience in programming BAS systems
  • Three years of experience as a Controls or HVAC Technician, which may be overlapping.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Will be required to work overtime in response to after-hours service requests.
  • Will be required to carry a cell phone on a rotating basis with other staff to support the after-hours response program.
  • Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced BAS and HVAC experience within a school district, commercial campus, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and trouble-shooting High Efficiency Boilers
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and trouble-shooting Chillers.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and trouble-shooting Rooftop Heating and Cooling units.
  • Experience maintaining, programming, repairing, and trouble-shooting a variety of Building Automation Control systems including the end devices it controls.
  • Ability to utilize computers and smart phones to manage work orders and communicate with team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the BAS, graphics, networks, and databases.
  • Evaluate control systems and programs to adjust as needed to maximize performance and energy efficiency.
  • Perform inspections on new installations to ensure all standards are being met.
  • Coordinate and assist the work of University approved subcontractors to provide BAS and mechanical related services when outsource contracting is necessary due to expertise, schedule conflicts or internal labor shortages.
  • Work with campus partners to maintain servers, databases, network access, and other technical issues.
  • Trouble-shoot a variety of BAS and other specialized equipment for electronic monitoring, network communication, measuring and overall operation of building automation system controllers, extension modules, network automation engines and a variety of different types of controls hardware across multiple operating system platforms from different manufactures and protocols.
  • Create, monitor, adjust and oversee Building Automation alarm systems and distribution notifications.
  • Develop graphics in new environments with licensed training programs in proprietary software.
  • Continuing improvements and additions as controls are upgraded, stay up to date on product training as needed.
