About The Position

Helion is a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. The Senior Semiconductor Device Engineer will drive the design and development of cutting-edge semiconductors for high-performance pulsed power systems used in Helion’s fusion generators. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment to develop, test, and implement high-reliability, high-efficiency switching components, with a strong emphasis on rapid development cycles. The position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Electrical Engineering and is an onsite role at the Everett, WA office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in power electronics and high voltage semiconductor design
  • Strong foundation in semiconductor physics, power electronics, and circuit design principles
  • Proven experience with rapid prototyping and development cycles in a high-tech environment
  • Background working with semiconductor fabricators to manufacture semiconductor devices
  • Proficiency with simulation tools and test equipment for power electronics

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead efforts to gather and utilize requirements for switching components and apply them toward design of physical products
  • Drive the design and development of novel pulsed power electronics components and systems, focusing on high-efficiency, high-reliability semiconductor solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of electrical, mechanical, and physics-based principles in semiconductor development
  • Lead development cycles, including hands-on prototyping, small-scale testing, and large-scale performance validation
  • Conduct simulations, testing, and analysis to validate designs and iterate quickly using data-backed decision making
  • Stay informed on emerging semiconductor materials, device architectures, and industry trends
  • Document design processes, specifications, test results, and findings for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
