About The Position

The Senior Security Technical Program Manager will join GitLab’s Trust and Safety team within the security division and coordinate and own cross-functional fraud and abuse prevention workstreams. The role partners with Trust and Safety engineers to understand fraud and abuse trends, then works with Engineering, Product, Legal, Finance, Billing, and other peer teams to improve defenses. The person in this role translates technical requirements and problems into business requirements and coordinates implementation with engineering and product teams. The role also turns abuse trends into prioritized, cost-quantified requirements and business cases; uses AI to support early identification and triage of fraud and abuse risks; and defines metrics for exposure, program status, costs, and outcomes. Trust and Safety works to detect and prevent fraud and abuse across GitLab SaaS platforms and to keep the cost of abuse low.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in technical program management, security program management, or Trust and Safety, fraud, or risk operations.
  • Hands-on experience with fraud or abuse at a SaaS, platform, marketplace, or payments company.
  • A track record of driving cross-functional fixes to completion without direct authority over the teams doing the work.
  • Working knowledge of common fraud and abuse patterns, including account takeover, free-tier and trial abuse, payment fraud and card testing, bot signups, and spam and phishing.
  • Technical fluency with web applications, APIs, identity and authentication, and billing or subscription systems sufficient to discuss implementation tradeoffs with engineers.
  • Clear, concise written communication suitable for an all-remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Sound judgment in balancing fraud and abuse risk against friction for legitimate users and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Connect Trust and Safety with Engineering, Product, Legal, Finance, and other teams to build, track, and drive cross-functional fraud and abuse mitigation through to completion.
  • Translate fraud and abuse trends into proposed defenses, gain stakeholder buy-in, and lead cross-functional projects to completion.
  • Turn abuse trends into prioritized, cost-quantified requirements and business cases that product teams can act on.
  • Use AI to support early identification and triage of fraud and abuse risks across GitLab.
  • Partner with Finance and Billing on fraud prevention controls, including payment fraud, chargebacks, and account verification.
  • Define metrics for abuse and fraud exposure and report program status, costs, and outcomes to security and business leadership.
  • Identify, triage, and prioritize Trust and Safety abuse campaigns and operational work, and ensure high-impact incidents are escalated.
  • Coordinate with Trust and Safety engineers to understand fraud and abuse trends and improve defenses with engineering, product, and peer teams.
