Senior Security Engineer, Identity

Ramp•New York, NY
•$175,200 - $240,900

About The Position

Ramp is hiring a Senior Security Engineer, Identity, within Corporate Security. Corporate Security owns the company’s identity and access layer, including Okta, Google Workspace, the SaaS applications behind them, and access governance. The role will turn that layer into an IAM-as-a-service platform that other teams can use without filing a ticket. This is a hands-on role combining identity architecture and implementation. The engineer will manage identity configuration in Terraform, develop governed entitlements through an agentic workflow, and build an on-call agent that can answer access questions. They will also own how identities for applications and AI agents are issued, scoped, and audited. The role reports to the Corporate Security lead and works closely with IT, Security Engineering, AI DevX, and the Data team.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in identity engineering or IAM, including operational ownership of Okta or an equivalent identity provider at scale.
  • Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM, including how custom authorization servers issue and enforce audiences, scopes, and claims.
  • Working knowledge of how XAA and ID-JAG work, including token exchange and JWT bearer grants.
  • Experience with ISPM or identity graph tooling and turning findings into automated remediation.
  • Experience owning an IGA platform or building an equivalent in-house.
  • Terraform experience managing identity providers, including module design, state, and CI.
  • Programming experience in Python or Go, including building against platform APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Own Terraform configuration for identity services, including Okta applications, authorization servers, authentication policies, groups and group rules, and SCIM provisioning.
  • Design and operate custom authorization servers, including audiences, scopes, claims, and access policies for internal services and AI agents.
  • Implement app-to-app and agent access through Cross App Access (XAA) and ID-JAG, with delegated access brokered and governed by the identity provider.
  • Own the IGA platform, including the entitlement catalog, ownership, access requests, time-bound grants, and certifications.
  • Build an agentic workflow that turns a team's access needs into a defined, owned, and governed entitlement, with Terraform and IGA changes opened for review.
  • Build identity graphs with ISPM tooling to identify overprivileged and long-standing access across human and non-human identities.
  • Build the identity data lake behind an on-call agent that can explain access events, such as an Okta User Not Assigned Application error.
