About The Position

Circadia Health is a growth-stage healthcare AI company focused on preventing hospitalizations and improving senior care operations through its AI platform. This platform integrates contactless sensing, predictive models, and enterprise workflows to monitor patients and detect adverse events. The company is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead the design and execution of studies that demonstrate the platform's impact on patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness. This role involves end-to-end ownership of studies, from question framing and design to analysis and publication, covering both clinical evidence and health economics. The scientist will be responsible for establishing the company's claims and substantiating them with rigorous research using real-world, often messy, operational data. Collaboration with the Chief Scientist, analytics team, and clinical staff at customer facilities is expected. This is the first dedicated outcomes research hire, offering a broad scope of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Industry research experience is required.
  • MSc or PhD in epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, health economics, public health, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years producing real-world evidence, outcomes research, or health economics work in a company, consultancy, payer, or provider setting.
  • Experience with health economics and outcomes research: cost, utilization, ROI, or cost-avoidance analysis alongside clinical endpoints.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into clear narratives for executives, customers, and payers.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publication, ideally in a clinical specialty or informatics journal.
  • Command of observational and quasi-experimental study design, and clear thinking about its limits.
  • Proficiency with R or Python and SQL.
  • Comfort with large, messy healthcare datasets.
  • Clear scientific writing, and experience carrying a manuscript through peer review.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medicare, Medicare Advantage, skilled nursing, or senior care populations.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare claims structure and CMS post-acute quality measures (SNFRM, PPR).
  • Experience in remote patient monitoring, medical devices, or digital health.
  • Experience evaluating AI or machine learning models in a clinical workflow.
  • Experience measuring clinician workload, documentation burden, or workflow efficiency, including clinical informatics evaluation.
  • Experience in a startup.
  • Familiarity with IRB pathways and reporting standards such as SQUIRE 2.0.
  • Experience working with actuarial firms or third-party claims datasets.
  • Understanding of value-based care economics and healthcare reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and run studies to establish the impact of Circadia's platform on patients and costs.
  • Own studies end-to-end: framing questions, choosing designs and comparators, running analysis, and publishing findings.
  • Work on metrics including hospital readmission rates, fall rates, time to clinical intervention, emergency department and inpatient utilization, length of stay, total cost of care, and clinician productivity.
  • Own both clinical evidence and health economics, including peer-reviewed publications and ROI/cost-avoidance analyses.
  • Set the standard for how Circadia makes and substantiates claims.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Scientist, analytics team, and clinical teams at customer facilities.
  • Design the strongest study possible given the available operational data.
  • Own study design and governance, including scoping studies of the deployed platform, defining questions, cohorts, observation periods, and endpoints from operational data.
  • Choose and defend study designs where randomization is not available (e.g., retrospective observational, matched cohort, difference-in-differences, interrupted time series, index-event designs).
  • Build comparison groups, baselines, and risk-adjustment approaches.
  • Write prespecified analysis plans and decide upfront on study claims.
  • Own IRB submission and human-subjects determination, and conflict-of-interest and AI-assistance disclosure.
  • Shape future data collection for publishability by design.
  • Analyze Medicare claims, EHR, platform, and customer operational data.
  • Apply matching and causal inference methods (e.g., propensity score matching, mixed-effects models).
  • Reason about confounding, selection bias, immortal time bias, and balance diagnostics.
  • Translate how Circadia operates and bills into claims-detectable logic.
  • Define how Circadia calculates and reports ROI and cost avoidance, and run subgroup analyses.
  • Draft and publish manuscripts in journals, manage peer review and revision.
  • Produce conference abstracts, white papers, and commercial evidence.
  • Set guardrails on Circadia's claims based on evidence.
  • Present findings to clinical, payer, and executive audiences.
  • Support customer and partner conversations.
