About The Position

We are looking for an exceptional, multidisciplinary scientist to drive new research and product development efforts in our Spatial Biology department, developing technologies that map protein — and other biomolecules — directly within intact tissue. The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record in cell biology, immunology or tumor biology with extensive experience designing and working with high-plex proteomics tissue imaging assays. This position requires a deep understanding of proteomics and cell biology as you will be applying your skills and knowledge to optimize and evaluate new assays in the area of spatial multiomics in tissues. Additionally, this role will require you to interact closely with colleagues in several departments including chemistry, computational biology, software, engineering and microfluidics. You should have a strong analytical background, be driven by developing revolutionary new products and technologies, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative and truly multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate will contribute cell biology, proteomics and immunology expertise and leadership to cross-disciplinary product development teams to ensure project milestones and technological specifications are met.

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular/Cell Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in proteomics, imaging and spatial techniques, in situ hybridization, preferably in the Biotechnology industry.
  • Hands-on experience with high-plex protein multiplexing technology.
  • Experience with tissue processing, histology, immunohistochemistry, cryosectioning, immunofluorescence including characterization by surface markers or gene expression.
  • Extensive experience working with antibodies, including mAb QC, conjugation, functional testing.
  • Strong analytical background
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
  • Desire to build game-changing technologies and impact the world of life science research.

Nice To Haves

  • Pathology experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, AI-aided coding or specialized omics data analysis software is a plus.
  • Skills in image analysis are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the optimization of tissue handling and processing protocols for protein staining, including FFPE samples, to improve antigen retention, staining consistency, and compatibility with high-plex imaging workflows.
  • Design and execute experiments using novel imaging and biochemistry platforms integral to various spatial technology platforms under development at 10x Genomics. This includes in-depth analysis and reporting of your data through documentation and presentations to internal groups.
  • Work closely with computational biologists and software engineers to interpret data generated by novel optical and biochemical assays.
  • Develop demonstrated and robust protocols that will be used internally across various teams during product development.

Benefits

  • equity grants
  • comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs
  • annual bonus program or sales incentive program
