About The Position
Deep Apple Therapeutics is a Bay Area biotechnology company focused on accelerating drug discovery through advanced computer-aided drug design technologies. They combine capabilities in molecular docking and structural biology, applying a state-of-the-art technology research platform based on advanced computational modeling, large-scale compound docking (LSD), cryo-EM based structural biology, and deep learning. The company is seeking motivated scientists for openings in molecular biology, structural biology, deep learning, and in vitro biology. This role is for an outstanding Scientist to join the biology drug discovery team, reporting to the Director of Biology. The position involves designing and executing in vitro biology programs to advance novel targets from concept to pre-clinical proof-of-principle, playing a hands-on role in the company's pipeline.
Requirements
- PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of industry experience in small molecule drug discovery, with deep expertise in receptor pharmacology.
- Hands-on expertise in compound screening and molecular/cellular techniques to interrogate target biology and mechanisms of action
- In-depth knowledge of GPCR pharmacology and signal transduction
- Strong cell culture skills and laboratory practices
- Rigorous scientific thinking with sharp attention to detail
- Collaborative, creative, and proactive — comfortable driving projects independently and contributing to team strategy
Responsibilities
- Design and develop biochemical, cell-based, and functional assays to validate novel target concepts through pre-clinical in vitro proof-of-principle studies
- Design and execute medium- to high-throughput compound screens to accelerate drug discovery programs
- Identify and implement novel technologies to expand team capabilities
- Lead scientific engagements with CROs to expedite programs and augment internal capacity
- Collaborate cross-functionally and contribute to a culture of scientific rigor, including mentoring junior team members
- Communicate findings clearly through presentations, reports, and appropriate documentation
