About The Position

Medica is a nonprofit health plan serving over a million members across multiple states, focusing on personalized healthcare experiences and strong provider partnerships. The Senior Sales Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and improving training and readiness programs for Medica's direct-to-consumer National Sales Team, which supports Medicare, Medicaid, and Individual & Family Business (IFB) products. This role acts as a strategic partner to sales leadership, ensuring representatives are well-informed, trained, and prepared for success in a regulated and evolving environment. Key responsibilities include leading new employee onboarding, open enrollment readiness, ongoing professional development, and the implementation of updates related to products, systems, regulations, and processes. By assessing business needs and creating engaging learning experiences, the trainer equips the sales team with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide excellent service. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, stays current with industry trends and regulatory changes, and identifies opportunities to enhance team performance. This role connects sales, operations, product, compliance, and other business partners to ensure team alignment and readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 5+ years of work experience beyond degree delivering sales training, facilitating new hire onboarding, or learning and development programs in a health care sales environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting direct-to-consumer sales teams, call center operations, broker support functions, or customer service organizations
  • Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs
  • Experience leading training and readiness initiatives for Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), Open Enrollment Period (OEP), or other large-scale business launches
  • Knowledge of current healthcare industry trends, CMS regulations, and consumer sales best practices

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve onboarding programs for Medica's National Sales team, including Inside Sales, Broker Experience, Sales Relationship Management, and other consumer sales and service functions.
  • Develop and deliver engaging learning experiences to accelerate time-to-proficiency for new employees.
  • Serve as a trusted resource, providing guidance, coaching, and support to new team members during onboarding.
  • Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to ensure onboarding programs align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and role expectations.
  • Evaluate onboarding effectiveness and implement enhancements based on learner feedback and business outcomes.
  • Lead training and readiness initiatives for Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)/Open Enrollment Period (OEP).
  • Monitor and communicate product, compliance, regulatory, system, process, and industry updates to the sales team.
  • Translate complex information into clear, actionable training and communications.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for training-related questions and assist employees in finding solutions.
  • Partner with the Sales Technology Trainer to support technology implementations, system enhancements, and adoption efforts.
  • Collaborate with Content Specialists and business partners to maintain training materials, job aids, knowledge resources, and readiness documentation.
  • Assess organizational readiness and identify training opportunities that support business goals and performance outcomes.
  • Develop and implement programs to improve sales and service performance through ongoing learning, coaching, and development.
  • Identify and incorporate best practices from top performers into training and performance support resources.
  • Design and manage mentorship and peer-learning opportunities.
  • Assess team knowledge, skill gaps, and development needs through observations, feedback, and performance data.
  • Create targeted learning solutions for products, regulations, systems, consumer experience, and industry trends.
  • Continuously evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by encouraging curiosity, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
