Caterpillar's Customer Solutions Core Regions division has an exciting Senior Sales Support Consultant opportunity! Role Summary: The Senior Sales Support Consultant supports and drives execution of the governmental business plan by monitoring business performance and developing recommendations that advance both short‑term priorities and long‑term strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Customer Focus: Facilitates creation of the 'right' products and services to resolve customer business issues. Fosters strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and on-going feedback/improvement. Advises others on creating governmental customer focused environments in various scenarios. Anticipates governmental customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations. Communicates and models the criticality of governmental customer focus as an organizational strategy.
  • Industry Knowledge: Discusses governmental industry-specific flagship products and services. Demonstrates current knowledge of the regulatory environment for governmental industry segment. Describes the contribution of own function as it relates to the industry segment. Participates in major governmental industry trade association events to represent Caterpillar with Governmental customers.
  • Effective Communications: Reviews others' writing or presentations and provides feedback and coaching. Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience. Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position. Communicates well downward, upward, and outward. Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement. Maintains focus on the topic at hand.
  • Relationship Management: Conducts periodic reviews of work effort, progress, issues, and successes. Maintains productive, long-term relationships with customers, field teams, dealers, and business partners. Creates opportunities to educate support teams on governmental customer opportunities. Empowers others to establish collaborative, healthy relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with government customers and public‑sector stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated field and dealer experience, with an understanding of on‑the‑ground operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with districts and dealers to develop and implement customer solutions that maximize product value, pricing, and overall commercial effectiveness.
  • Identify and address business plan gaps while capitalizing on incremental sales opportunities to improve regional performance.
  • Resolve performance‑related issues within the territory, overseeing PINS trends, demand variability, governmental cooperative contracts, and core customer requirements.
  • Develop new prospects, establish and grow customer relationships, and identify opportunities to introduce the organization’s products and services across the governmental segment.
