The Senior Sales Manager, National Capital Equipment is responsible for the leadership, direction, and performance of the Capital Equipment Sales organization. This role drives strategic growth across the full capital portfolio, ensures disciplined execution, and strengthens alignment between capital placements and consumable growth initiatives. This leader partners closely with Regional Sales Leadership, Marketing, Corporate Accounts, Finance, and Professional Education to drive follow-through, adoption, and long-term account success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years commercial experience.
  • Ophthalmology experience.
  • Demonstrated success in capital equipment sales.
  • Proven leadership experience managing national or multi-regional sales teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and deal structuring expertise.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with marketing and field leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive adoption and execution post-sale.
  • Up to 75% travel may be required.

  • Experience with ophthalmic surgical capital (phaco, femto, visualization, etc.).
  • Strong executive presence and influencing capability.
  • Experience working with IDNs, academic institutions, and private equity platforms.
  • Track record of driving competitive conversion strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the national capital strategy aligned to division growth objectives.
  • Provide direction and performance management for the Cataract Equipment Sales Team, refractive leader, and the Clinical Application Teams.
  • Drive disciplined funnel management, forecasting accuracy, and revenue attainment.
  • Establish capital deployment priorities tied to strategic growth accounts.
  • Lead national capital quota attainment and growth targets.
  • Ensure alignment between capital placements and consumable pull-through.
  • Drive consistent selling methodology and value-based capital positioning.
  • Strengthen the competitive conversion strategy.
  • Partner closely with Regional Business Directors and District Business Managers to align capital strategy with territory priorities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to support launch execution and value messaging.
  • Align with Corporate Accounts team on strategic IDN and PE opportunities and pull-through.
  • Partner with Finance on ROI modeling and deal structure discipline.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing Capital Equipment Sales team.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
  • Build next-generation capital leadership bench strength.
  • Ensure compliance, forecasting discipline, and operational rigor.
  • Drive forecast accuracy and capital funnel visibility.
  • Improve capital placement velocity and installation timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance, contracting, and pricing guidelines.
