Senior Sales Engineer, Data Products

CentralReach
•$125,000 - $160,000•Remote

About The Position

CentralReach's Data Products team is seeking a Senior Sales Consultant to own the technical side of data opportunities. The role partners with Account Managers serving existing providers and new-business Account Executives to understand customer data problems, design solutions, and lead technical evaluations from discovery through close. The successful candidate can discuss business outcomes with senior finance executives and data architecture with technical leaders. The Data Products team operates like a startup within CentralReach and is building its own playbook and processes. The role calls for high ownership, comfort with limited process, and the ability to influence product direction and the data sales process. It includes technical discovery, solution design, tailored demonstrations, proof-of-concept leadership, business-case development, objection handling, reusable sales resources, and structured feedback to Product and Engineering. Use of AI tooling such as LLMs, code copilots, and semantic search is a core part of the team's workflow.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in sales engineering, solutions consulting, or pre-sales architecture supporting a technical B2B product in data infrastructure, analytics, developer tools, observability, or enterprise AI.
  • Track record of evaluations that reached a decision rather than an indefinite pilot, and of deals technically won.
  • Experience selling to data and engineering leaders alongside business buyers such as CEOs, CFOs, and COOs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex methodology to non-technical executives while maintaining precision.
  • Comfort working in a team that is still building its processes, with a bias toward action.
  • Willingness to disqualify opportunities and challenge weak requirements before scoping an evaluation.
  • Understanding of how architecture and delivery decisions affect pricing, packaging, and renewal outcomes, including consumption-based models.
  • Sound judgment about where to invest technical effort across multiple live opportunities.
  • Low ego and genuine curiosity about how customers work.
  • Working knowledge of modern data architecture, including warehouses, databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and pipelines.
  • Understanding of data governance, de-identification, suppression, entitlements, and audit requirements for externally facing analytics.
  • Sufficient architecture depth to have credible discussions with data leaders who have built their own stack, without adding unnecessary complexity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a data, analytics, cloud, infrastructure, or observability company, and familiarity with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or Looker.
  • Experience with enterprise security review, procurement, and technical diligence.
  • Experience joining or helping build an early sales engineering organization, or selling an emerging category where customer education is part of the sales cycle.
  • Healthcare data exposure, such as claims, quality measures, or de-identification standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical portion of the sales process from discovery through technical validation and close.
  • Partner with Account Managers and new-business Account Executives on account strategy, qualification, deal planning, and stakeholder management.
  • Work with the VP of Data Products to assess the existing customer base, determine product readiness, and build target lists with Account Managers.
  • Lead technical discovery into customer architecture, workflows, pain points, decision criteria, and business objectives, and translate findings into solution designs across Advanced BI, Data Warehouse, APIs, and Benchmarking.
  • Deliver tailored demos that connect product capabilities to measurable customer outcomes.
  • Scope and run proofs of concept and technical evaluations with upfront success criteria, driving each to a decision on a defined timeline.
  • Build and defend business cases, including TCO and ROI comparisons with in-house development.
  • Map customers to the right product for their current stage and identify what they will need at the next stage.
  • Address technical objections involving architecture, security, data access, scalability, deployment, APIs, entitlements, and integration; investigate competitors' actual capabilities.
  • Create reusable evaluation plans, ROI models, solution patterns, and technical collateral for the broader sales organization.
  • Provide structured customer and competitive feedback to Product and Engineering, and support post-close handoff by documenting expectations, architecture decisions, and success criteria.
  • Use AI tooling, including LLMs, code copilots, and semantic search, as a core part of the workflow.
