About The Position

The Senior Sales Incentive Compensation Design Partner is the subject matter expert accountable for designing and modeling global sales incentive compensation and incentive bonus programs. The role translates business strategy, sales roles, coverage models, performance expectations, and financial goals into scalable incentive designs that drive intended business outcomes and sales behaviors. This role also leads complex financial and behavioral modeling, including sensitivity analysis, and synthesizes findings into clear recommendations and executive-level narratives that guide senior Commercial, Finance, and HR leaders through design decisions, risks, and tradeoffs. The role ensures designs are strategically aligned, financially sound, scalable, and operationally executable for the global incentive-eligible population. The ideal candidate has significant sales compensation design experience supporting an incentive-eligible participant population of 2,000 or more in the life sciences, diagnostics, medical technology, technology, software, or another complex multinational company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, Economics, Analytics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible incentive compensation experience, including substantial direct experience in sales compensation and incentive bonus design.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex global incentive programs supporting a large-volume, multi-country participant population.
  • Deep expertise in sales incentive design principles, including eligibility, pay mix, measures, quotas and targets, payout curves, thresholds, accelerators, modifiers, caps, and governance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial and behavioral modeling of incentive design alternatives, including cost forecasts, payout simulations, sensitivity analyses, participant impacts, and performance-to-pay relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex incentive design decisions, presenting recommendations and tradeoffs to senior leaders, and influencing Finance, Commercial, HR, and Sales Operations stakeholders.
  • Incentive compensation experience in life sciences, diagnostics, medical technology, technology, software, or a similarly complex multinational company.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities, with the ability to convert complex data into clear recommendations, decision tradeoffs, and actions for senior leaders.

  • Experience supporting sales incentive programs across multiple countries and regions.
  • Familiarity with Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) systems and compensation technology used to implement, administer, and report on incentive plans.
  • Relevant certification or advanced development in compensation, analytics, finance, project management, HR, sales operations, or data visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial and behavioral modeling of design alternatives, including payout simulations, sensitivity analyses, cost forecasts, and participant impact assessments; recommend the design that best balances commercial outcomes, affordability, risk, and participant behavior.
  • Serve as the primary incentive design advisor to senior Finance, Commercial, and HR leaders and provide design direction to Sales Operations, Quota and Crediting, Reporting, and Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) technology teams for accurate implementation.
  • Lead the incentive design decision process during annual planning cycles, periodic reviews, and material business changes by defining options, establishing evaluation criteria, and presenting evidence-based recommendations.
  • Evaluate plan effectiveness using quota attainment, payout distribution, performance-to-pay alignment, incentive cost, participant outcomes, and commercial results; identify design issues and lead recommendations for corrective action.
  • Establish global incentive design standards, governance requirements, approval criteria, and controls, ensuring approved design principles are documented and consistently applied.
  • Lead incentive design responses to significant go-to-market changes, new sales roles, channel evolution, and mergers or acquisitions by assessing impacts, modeling alternatives, and presenting recommendations, risks, costs, and implementation requirements.
