About The Position

The Senior Safety SME will be responsible to advance the state-of-the-art development activities related to vehicle safety crashworthiness. The responsibilities of this position include: Working closely with various industry / academic experts and suppliers to interpret new regulatory requirements and work collaboratively in providing industry-based responses. Lead the safety development strategy for new regulatory and third-party safety requirements by establishing technology roadmaps, developing appropriate design strategies, and identifying current or advanced countermeasures. Conduct global benchmarking activities and identify trends in vehicle safety technologies and content. Establish best practices and author / maintain globally harmonized safety procedure documents. Represent Stellantis for all vehicle safety related development activities with various working groups and industry forums such as SAE, USCAR and crash related software user conferences. Support root cause and issue resolution during critical product development activities. Train and educate safety performance engineers in understanding and implementing the latest technologies. This position requires some travel to Chelsea Proving Grounds.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Other technical degrees in the specific area of relevant specialty expertise may be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience applying specialty expertise and demonstrated competence in the ability to direct, guide, lead and mentor significant research or technical programs.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of global regulatory compliance procedures as well as current and proposed changes for third party requirements.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills with the ability to explain complicated issues in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to transmit an understanding of technical issues to the Performance Engineers, CAE engineering audience as well as the executive management team.
  • Meets all Stellantis requirements in qualifying the candidate for a Senior Safety Technical Specialists classification.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural or Aeronautical engineering.
  • DFSS optimization applied to vehicle structure / deterministic & stochastic analysis.
  • Proven track of Safety Methodology/Tools/Guidelines/Impact Script development.
  • Ability to apply Artificial Intelligence deep-learning techniques by using long-time cumulated Test and CAE data mining for future Vehicle Crashworthiness Structure Design Development as well as for safety predictability enhancement.
  • Previous participation or leadership in technical societies
