Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in safety, risk control, or ergonomics, with at least 3 years in a consulting environment (or equivalent).
  • College degree required and some professional designations preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applied ergonomics (industrial and/or office) including task analysis, risk factor identification, control design, and evaluation.
  • Maintain valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be willing to travel. This is a fully remote position rooted in Southeastern or Central Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware, with 30% local (day) travel and 20% of travel that requires air travel and overnight stays.
  • This position will periodically require attendance at company events and department meetings.
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment.
  • Comfort working independently, managing a field‑based schedule, and balancing multiple accounts and priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of occupational safety and health principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Willingness to learn Property and Casualty Insurance Coverage.
  • Ability to communicate with clients on their current losses and potential exposures, produce resources with the best practices to address those exposures, consult on the implementation of those best practices, and partner with client to deliver the improvements.

  • Proficient in Graham standard computer applications (Microsoft 365, Word, PowerPoint; basic knowledge and utilization of Excel).
  • Regular and predictable attendance in accordance with the limitations and reporting procedures established by the Graham Company from time to time.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, work in varying environmental conditions; ability to lift/carry fifty (50) pounds of assessment equipment and stand/walk/drive for prolonged periods of time.
  • Employees are required to be fit-for-duty which includes not being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. This includes any drugs that might impact an employee’s ability to safely perform their job.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations strongly preferred (e.g., CPE/CHFP/CEAS/COESp, AEP) or progress toward attaining designation or certification.
  • Technical expertise in certain industry segments is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Works with clients in the supply chain industry sector, health & human services (HHS) industry vertical, construction, etc. to identify actual and potential exposures in the organization whether quality performance, safety, or risk.
  • Plan and conduct on‑site and virtual safety and ergonomic assessments for insureds, focusing on high‑severity and high‑frequency loss drivers (e.g., musculoskeletal injuries such as but not limited to strains/sprains and repetitive motion, slips/trips/falls, and material handling).
  • Analyze workplace tasks, tools, and environments (industrial, office, and field‑based) using ergonomic principles (RULA, REBA, NIOSH Lifting Equation, etc.) and translate findings into practical, prioritized action items.
  • Develop and deliver training, coaching, and toolbox talks on topics such as ergonomics, safe material handling, behavior‑based safety, and supervisor safety leadership.
  • Assist clients in designing and implementing safety and ergonomic programs, policies, and procedures, including metrics to monitor effectiveness.
  • Use internal and carrier tools, analytics, and loss data to prioritize service activities and demonstrate impact on loss costs and client outcomes.
  • Document all service activities in required systems with clear, concise, and actionable reports delivered to both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Stay current with regulations, standards, and best practices in occupational safety, health, and ergonomics, and share insights with the broader risk control team.
  • Mentor Safety Consultants and contribute to development of tools, resources, and service offerings related to ergonomics and safety practice.
  • Using independent discretion and judgment, assist the client with the development, implementation, and monitoring of controls over primary loss exposures and processes to prevent or mitigate losses.
  • Coordinate/direct Loss Control Services being provided to clients through the insurance carrier. Monitor the services being provided to assure they are geared towards clients’ exposures and needs.
  • When requested, coordinates services provided by an outside vendor pursuant to an overall risk services plan.
  • Pursue a designation/certification/internal project for personal and professional development.
  • Keep abreast of changing laws, which impact our clients, and communicate these changes to clients and fellow Graham Company employees.
  • Continually work to establish and strengthen existing relationships with insurance carriers, underwriters, loss control, etc. This includes activities such as attending meetings with insurance company representatives, both in and out of office, entertaining insurance company representatives (lunch, etc.).
  • Attend meetings relating to your position.
  • Coordinate with marketing firm or department to publish articles, white papers, and blogs together with Team Members for education-based marketing.
  • Research and develop risk management programs that include resources and education for client service as well as for presentation to provider groups for education-based marketing.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned by the Graham Company managerial personnel.
