About The Position

Proofpoint is seeking a highly motivated Senior Revenue Accountant to join their team. This role will report to the Manager, Revenue Recognition and be responsible for the day-to-day revenue accounting as part of a broader team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive learner, take initiative, and be a great team player, interested in joining and helping Proofpoint grow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Experience in accounting in industry and/or public accounting, focus on SaaS & software revenue recognition required
  • Proficient technical and operational knowledge of ASC 606 and multiple-element arrangements
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Manage multiple priorities well and handle assigned tasks with attention to detail
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving and follow through
  • Operate as a team and/or independently while demonstrating flexibility to changing requirements, time constraints, and deadlines
  • Take a clean sheet approach when revisiting operational processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally CPA, CPA candidate, or similar level
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 and Zuora Revenue is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency with revenue accounting rules under ASC 606 by performing deal review on multiple-element SaaS & software arrangements to ensure accurate revenue recognition treatment
  • Contribute to process and system improvements in the revenue cycle including ERP system enhancement and projects
  • Prepare analyses, journal entries, and related account reconciliations
  • Participate in the monthly close
  • Assist in preparation of audit requests as needed
  • Perform processes and procedures to comply with SOX 404 control framework
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned
