About The Position

The Senior Revenue Accountant for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of revenue recognition and A/R -related financial reporting. This role will partner closely with operations, billing, and financial planning and analysis to ensure GAAP compliant revenue processes and timely identification of risks and opportunities in revenue trends. The position will ensure the accurate recording, recognition, and reporting of hospital revenue, focusing on the healthcare revenue cycle, patient billing, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 standards. Key responsibilities include preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with billing and operations teams to identify revenue risks and opportunities, assisting with audits, and supporting month-end close processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on revenue recognition.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 standards.
  • Experience with healthcare revenue cycle and patient billing.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience with large academic medical systems.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.
